Mini-Biography

Tokui is a small, timid boy, plagued by health problems and a desire to be seen by no one. Physically he bears a striking resemblance to his uncle, Yuki Eiri, when he was 16, something that makes Yuki feel the need to protect him while causing Touma to push him away emotionally (as he feels Tokui is a remind of how he failed Yuki so many years ago). When Tokui was very young he was often in the hospital and almost died twice in his first two years of life alone. He spent the first eight years of his life being fed with a feeding tube, and had to carry around his own oxygen until he was almost 13. His earliest memories are of him in the hospital alone, with only occaisonal visits from his uncle to ease his loneliness. Because of his strange coloring many people at the hospital wondered if he was a foreigner (and believed Yuki was his father, not his uncle), something that further seperated from everyone else. His self-consciousness was only made worse when he was sent to school at age twelve, where he was tormented endlessly for his strange coloring and need to carry around an oxygen tank. Had it not been for his sister, it's believed he would have destroyed himself. Outwardly it appears that Tokui is close to his sister, but in all actuality she just forces herself into his life to the point where he can't ignore her. He greatly admires his uncle and hopes to one day be a writer like him.

Love/Friendship

Tokui, not being a social butterfly, doesn't actually actively seek companionship. However, that doesn't stop him from forming crushes. He is in love with Nakano Hiroshi, best friend of his uncle's lover, Shindou Shuichi, and though he thought he kept this well hidden he was shocked to learn he was mistaken. He is also best friends with Chen Quon Yue, one of the most unlikeliest friendships ever formed. His sister he considers an ally, but she isn't someone he will actively confide in. Though his sexuality is unknown, Amai was once quick to note all of his crushes and lasting friendships seem to be with boys/men.

Family

Tokui was never very close to either of his parents. His mother Mika was ashamed of herself for having a child so desperately sick, and as a result denied his psychological problems until her brother had to take matters into his own hands, causing her to lapse into guilt. Though she seems sincerely interested in his welfare, she doesn't actively participate in his treatment. His father Touma also feels guilt, but not over the treatment of his son. Rather, he feels guilty when he sees Tokui because of his strong resemblance to Yuki when he was 16. Touma tries to spoil his son with material things (which are often rejected due to the boy's Spartan lifestyle), and realizing that wasn't working he uses his power to get his son the best medical treatment for his many illnesses, including getting him experimental drugs and procedures. But the whole time he ignored the boy's fragile emotional state, something that his uncle, Yuki Eiri, took upon himself to take care of. Tokui adores his uncle, who right from the beginning was by his side, and sees him as both a father-figure and a mentor. Though Yuki can occasionally be harsh toward his delicate nephew, Tokui understands it is all for the sake of his well-being. Eventually it's Yuki who takes him from his parents to make sure he gets the psychiatric help that he needs. The only other member of his family that Tokui communicates with is his twin sister Amai, who takes after her father and prefers to talk rather than listen. Though she tries to be sensitive toward her brother and his plight, she often comes off as harsh, which is what causes Tokui to see her as only an ally but not someone he can be truly close to.

Strange Habits

Tokui opted for a Spartan lifestyle long ago, keeping material possessions to a bare minimum and living conditions very plain and not all that comfortable. This is unusual, considering he grew up wealthy and could have anything he wants and is often offered things he neither wants nor needs. He also appears to have social anxiety, and when in public areas he will find places to hide, like closets, empty rooms, or dark corners. He also always carries a sachel containing his medications, his notebook and pencil, a book (usually one of his uncle's), and a flashlight.

Type AB

People with Type AB Blood are said to have a delicate sensitivity. They are considerate of other people's feelings and deal with them with care and caution. On the other hand, though, they are strict with themselves and those close to them. They, therefore, seem to have two personalities: one for those "outside," and another for people on the "inside." They often become sentimental, and they tend to think too deeply about things. AB Types have a lot of friends, but they need time to be alone and think things through, as well.

Virgo the Virgin

August 23-September 22

The virgin thinks every aspect of life (especially emotional) is rational, logical, and controllable- and actually proves it in each moment. Calm, cool, and self-contained, Virgo won't surrender to sloppy thinking- or behavior. Consequently, Virgo lives in a paradise of order that's a little removed from the messy front lines of human interaction.

Virgo the Virgin

August 23-September 22

The Sunny Side:

Nothing gets past you. You have an eye for detail. You also have extraordinary analytical abilities, a rare clarity of mind, an enviable capacity for concentration, and on top of it all, an appealing modesty. As an earth sign, you are patient and industrious.

The Sorry Side:

You're too hard on everyone, yourself included. You nag. You criticize. You can't distinguish between that which is acceptable (your spouse) and that which is ideal (your spouse, if only he would listen to you and shape up).

c The symbol of Virgo the Virgin looks like an M with a closed-in loop. It represents the female genitals, in contrast to Scorpio, which represents the male.

Quality: Mutable

Lucky Gem: Peridot

Element: Earth

Part of the Body: The nervous system

Ruling Planet: Mercury (Some astrologers believe it's the maverick astroid Chiron that rules Virgo. [Page 35])

Key Phrase: I analyze

Opposite Sign: Pisces

Major Traits: Analytical but fault-finding

Additional Notes from Goo:

It should also be noted that because of Virgo's analytical nature they tend to seperate themselves from the crowd and are therefore the shyest sign and also the sign that likes social interaction the least, preferring instead their own company. When Virgos do reach out, they are very dependant and therefore need to find more patient and helpful signs to help them and understand them. They are second only to Capricorn in being the most academic and work-oriented sign.
