The Players

Name: Lillian Weiss

Nationality: Australian

Occupation: Land baron and real estate tycoon

Pawns: Huet Sêk Tau and Tanshoku Kokuhaku

You won't hear much of Lillian. In the Players' own mini-heirarchy she is number one, but apparently that only means she gets to speak first. She was the last to choose pawns, and according to what Sêk Tau says she isn't very happy with the pair that she got stuck with.

Name: Alfonso Hernandez

Nationality: Spanish

Occupation: Owner of a chain of banks

Pawns: Bertrand D'Aubigné and Cricket Smith

Alfonso is noted as saying that he didn't get where he was by making risky investments. So when he gets first pick of the pawns, it's no wonder he takes both of the thieves for a game that he knows involves stealing. Second in the Players, he has been stated as saying that his first official act were he to win the seat on the Committee would be to have Lillian killed for being "too damn smug".

Name: Dr. Elena Snow

Nationality: British

Occupation: Surgeon

Pawns: Akabane Kuroudo and Xian Hu Die

Noted for her distant attitude and faraway voice, Elena doesn't seem very rooted in reality. Not much is known about her, including why a simple surgeon would be offered the chance at a seat on the Committee. All that is known about her is that when she was younger she was very sick, and no one knows how her disease disappeared. She has a habit of surrounding herself with very dangerous men, and she hates women. She especially hates Himiko, although the reason why isn't apparent until later.

Name: Samuel Rogers

Nationality: American

Occupation: Stockbroker (also involved in illegal inside trading rings)

Pawns: Carolos Lakiotis and Kudou Himiko

It's best to never take Samuel at his word. If he promises he isn't going to touch you, he probably is adding under his breath "not tonight, anyway". However, if he tells you certain stocks are going to go up, you'd best take his word for it. And make sure you give him part of the money you make when he tells you to sell. It's best not to be on his bad side. Himiko detests him, but after learning if she threatens to leave the Pawns that she has him wrapped around her finger she begins to use this to her advantage, much to his chagrin.

Name: Lucia Gaiardo

Nationality: Italian

Occupation: Owner of a chain of famous European hotels

Pawns: Yevgeniya Yudin and Tanshoku Kokubyaku

Lucia is a nasty woman. She has been married twice, and according to the stories both of her husbands had planned to kill her for her money but were so put off by how rotten she was that they gave up and filed for divorce. She has no heirs as she hates children, and doesn't allow Yevgeniya so try to call her daughter during "work hours" (although that's the only time she can call her and be assured that she'll be awake). However, she is most noted for pretending that Himiko doesn't exist entirely, acting as if she can't hear her when she talks and walking through her instead of around her or asking her to step aside.

Name: Sonoda Akinori

Nationality: Japanese

Occupation: President of the largest construction company in Japan

Pawns: Aleksei Yudin and Singer McCullough

Although by far the most friendly and polite of the Players, don't get in his way when it comes to the Game: he wants a spot on the Committee, and he won't play fair if that's what it comes down to. Akinori owns the mansion where all of the Pawns are currently staying, and as such has to play the role of gracious host. The only other thing known about him is that the house was actually built many years ago by his late wife's family, and that for a while her relatives were fighting him for ownership of it.
