The Committee

The Committee has existed for centuries, if what they say is to be believed. Always donning black masks, they are the "stage managers of the world", staying behind the scenes and moving everything into place. Their reason is that "humanity cannot exist without order, whether they know it or not. There is not God controlling everything, but seven lesser gods". Needless to say, they are a bit full of themselves.

The Committee is blatently power hungry, looking for power in a more literal sense. For years they have been trying to create their own "God" by acquiring objects of power. Because they want their God to be controllable they always try to create a new child when a certain amount of objects have been acquired. The mother of said child gets an automatic seat on the Committee, which means the First at the time must be a male who is ready to give up his seat.

The Committee follows several strict rules and guidelines. Their Order of Ascension is a closely guarded secret (although when a man rises in rank, a female must replace him and vice versa). They are known as First, Second, Third, et cetera, all the way down to the Seventh. Also a closely guarded secret is how one joins the Committee. Although many of their subordinate groups (most notably the Players) believe that it is collecting the most objects of power that will get them a seat in the Committee.

The truth of the matter is that men earn a seat on the Committee if they possess a power that was unheard of prior to their existance (to be used in creating the God). Women get a seat on the Committee if they have a child that is an attempt at creating the God.

When a new First is selected, the location of the Committee's headquarters is changed to their home country.
